A few days ago, Club Q patrons in Colorado Springs became the victim of a senseless and devastating attack. This tragedy has left the LGBTQIA+ community reeling, and now more than ever we must band together. There are many ways we can do this – from donating to funds meant to help victims, too speaking out against hate crimes, to simply providing a loving shoulder for those who have been affected by this tragedy.

Donations are one of the best ways that allies and LGBTQIA+ individuals can show their support for the victims of this attack. To donate directly to Club Q or its victims, you can visit Colorado Gives 365 and donate to the Colorado Healing Fund. All donations go towards helping the victims with medical expenses, counseling services, transportation costs, and other essential needs.

Another option is GoFundMe. Here is their list of certified fundraisers.

Other great ways to show your support include donating to local organizations that advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and provide mental health services for those affected by hate crime attacks like this one. Check out a this list by USA Today of fantastic organizations helping the Colorado Springs community in the aftermath of the Club Q shooting.

Colorado locals can make a difference by donating blood at Vitalant Center in Denver or Colorado Springs. Donating blood is an important way of showing your support as it helps provide vital resources needed in times of crisis like these. You can become a regular donor or even make one-time donations if you don’t have time to commit long-term; all donations are appreciated!

There are plenty of other ways to give– drop off meals or care packages at local hospitals or shelters in the area; volunteer at an LGBTQIA+ organization; or even just take a few minutes out of your day to reach out directly with words of comfort and support. Every gesture counts!

No matter what way you choose – whether it be through donations or volunteering – showing your support is an important part of healing after such a traumatic event. The LGBTQIA+ community must come together during these times to make sure everyone gets the resources they need – so don’t wait another minute! Reach out today and show your love for those affected by this terrible tragedy! Let us stand strong against violence in all its forms! #WeAreQStrong!
