Making Health Care Accessible and Affordable for All LGBT Individuals

April 12, 2023

The LGBTQIA+ community has been suffering for a long time due to the lack of access to proper healthcare facilities. It has been a challenge for the community to have affordable and accessible healthcare services, which is why initiatives such as Publicly Private's resource programs are pivotal. Let's explore how the community has been struggling with healthcare access, how the Venture and Strengthen resource programs are aiding the community's well-being.

According to the Center for Disease Control, the LGBTQIA+ community is more prone to health problems than the general population. Studies have shown that they are more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS. These health problems often result from discrimination, neglect, and alienation they experience in their daily lives. Unfortunately, many healthcare providers are not trained to provide the care that the LGBTQIA+ community requires, resulting in significant challenges in accessing necessary medical care.

Venture by Publicly Private provides at-home testing with Telehealth visits, which is an excellent resource for the LGBTQIA+ community. It makes it easy for those who avoid medical facilities due to discrimination or do not have proper access to healthcare facilities to take care of their health. The program offers a wide range of services, including lab testing, consultations, and PrEP services. The program ensures that healthcare is accessible to everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Strengthen by Publicly Private is another significant initiative to support mental health, and well-being of LGBTQIA+ community. The program provides a safe and inclusive environment where individuals can receive care and support for issues such as discrimination, harassment, and mental health disorders. The program offers services through supportive group therapy sessions. The focus is on empowering individuals to develop resilience, self-worth, and tools to overcome negative experiences.

The Venture and Strengthen provide an inclusive and no cost healthcare opportunity for the LGBTQIA+ community. These programs are especially important for those who live in areas where access is limited or who face discrimination when seeking healthcare. With these programs, individuals can receive care in the privacy of their homes, free from judgment, and without fear of discrimination.

To conclude, the LGBTQIA+ community has long struggled with healthcare access, facing higher rates of HIV/AIDs, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Fortunately, initiatives such as Publicly Private have helped fill the gap. With the Venture's Telehealth visits, individuals can access care from the privacy of their homes, and with the Strengthen program, support is available for mental health issues that stem from discrimination, harassment, and alienation. These programs are a valuable resource to the community, providing access to no cost inclusive healthcare services. We must continue to support such initiatives to promote the well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community and make healthcare accessible for all. Contribute to Publicly Private's initiative today.
